Your computer must have a minimum speed of 300 mHz and a Pentium II, Pentium III, Pentium IV, Celeron, Athlon, Duron or Via-Cyrex processor with at least 64 meg of RAM and a 3 gigabyte or larger hard drive with at least 1 gigabyte free in order to upgrade to Windows 2000.
Computers that cannot be upgraded include: Compaq 4540, Packard Bell D141, and any other computer that is over 5 years old.
Before installing, insure that you have an adequate number of free Windows 2000 Professional licenses to cover the upgrade of your machine. If you have a site license or multiple computer license, use one of the license numbers indicated on the license. If there is more than one number, try to choose one not currently in use and note on the license to which computer that number will be assigned.
Reinstallation: Computers purchased with Windows 2000 Professional have a Microsoft sticker on the side or front of the system box containing a printed security code for that machine.
