1.Eudora users - Note: Eudora will not work with all SSL certificates.

1.1 Configuring Eudora for the first time:

1.1.1 Double click on the Eudora letter icon to launch. Answer Yes to the default mail question.

1.1.2 Click OK

1.1.3 Click Next

1.1.4 Click the button next to Skip directly to advanced account setup, then click Finish.

1.1.5 Restart your computer if it tells you to do so.

1.1.6 Launch Eudora and follow the steps in 1.2 to add a mail account.

1.2 Adding a user account to Eudora:

1.2.1 Click on the far right tab (faces) at the bottom of the window directly under the inbox icon.

1.2.2 Right click on theDominant Persona <Dominant> and select New – an Account Settings window pops up:

Note: If you wish to add another mail account – follow the same procedure

1.2.3 Click on the button next to Skip directly to advanced account setup.

1.2.4 Fill in your Real Name, Return Address, Login Name, SMTP Server and Default Domain as shown. Remember to substitute your own name for the example shown. Use a Personality Name such as newmail so you will know which account you are using.

1.3 Changing previously configured settings in Eudora:

1.3.1 On the toolbar at the top, click Tools, select Options.

1.3.2 Select the category Getting Started and enter your Real Name, the return address (note that it is your login name + @ + ecssf.org), the incoming mail server (POP3), your login name, and the outgoing mail server (SMTP).

VERY IMPORTANT – check the box next to Allow Authentication!


1.3.3 Now select Checking Mail, and verify the mail server and login name are correct.
Change the Check for Mail to a reasonable value (such as every 10 minutes).
The boxes next to Send on Check and Save password should be checked.
Select the Secure Sockets value to be If Available, STARTTLS.

1.3.4 Now select Incoming Mail, verify that the server configuration is POP and the authentication is Passwords.


1.3.5 Lastly, select Sending Mail, and add ecssf.org to the Domain to add to unqualified addresses.
The allow authentication, immediate send, and send on check boxes should all be checked.
Select the Secure Sockets value to be If Available, STARTTLS.

1.3.6 Click on the OK button and you are finished.
